There was no redemption for the Mets tonight at Citi Field as they lost to Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers 3-0.
Kershaw did what he pretty much always does and utterly dominated the Mets all night. He was perfect through six before Curtis Granderson miraculously singled in the seventh to give the Mets their first baserunner. Wilmer Flores also singled in that inning to put two men on, but the Dodgers' ace settled down to squelch the closest thing the Mets had to a threat all night. Kershaw struck out eleven in his nine innings of work, while throwing only 104 pitches in the process.
Bartolo Colon was nearly as splendid as Kershaw, but he allowed the seemingly-obligatory-against-the-Mets homer to Jimmy Rollins that gave the Dodgers a 1-0 lead in the third. After that, he cruised until he was taken out in favor of Sean Gilmartin in the top of ninth. The Mets' reliever quickly loaded the bases before Carlos Torres came in and allowed two more runs on a walk and a sac fly to put the game well out of reach for the Amazins.
