In their biggest offensive outburst of the year, the Mets bashed out 22 hits, four home runs, and 15 runs to beat the Dodgers 15-2. This game could not have gone much better for the Mets. Matt Harvey had a bounce-back performance. Michael Conforto and Kirk Nieuwenhuis had four hits each. Lucas Duda woke up with five hard-hit balls and two home runs. New acquisitions Kelly Johnson and Juan Uribe went a combined 3-for-9 with a home run.
Obviously, it's not possible to score 15 runs every game, but this hopefully is a sign of improvement to come from the Mets' offense. Unfortunately, the Giants and Nationals also won, so the Mets gained no ground on either the division or the second wild card.
