Mets Player Performance Meter: Position Players, Week 15

The Mets' offense hasn't been a major asset since the All-Star break, but for the first time in a while, there's at least a little bit of hope for it. There were still some bad performances among the group here, but the team promoted its top prospect in Michael Conforto when it placed Michael Cuddyer on the disabled list and made a good trade for Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson. With Travis d'Arnaud getting close to a return, things are looking relatively bright after a very long stretch of darkness.

Eric Campbell, 3B			Campbell didn’t hit much but managed a .467 OBP with a boatload of walks.
Michael Conforto, LF	--		Promoted to fill in for Cuddyer, Conforto has hit .444/.583/.667 in his first three major league games.
Michael Cuddyer, LF		and	In the four games before he hit the disabled list because of an ailing knee, Cuddyer hit .444/.545/.778.
Travis d’Arnaud, C			d’Arnaud isn’t quite back yet, but he started a rehab assignment with the Binghamton Mets on Saturday after two games in which he was supposed to play in Florida were rained out on Thursday and Friday. He should be back soon.
Lucas Duda, 1B			Overall, Duda’s still been in quite a slump, but he showed signs of life with a couple of home runs in the Mets’ blowout victory over the Dodgers on Saturday. He’s had some very hard-hit balls turn into outs over this stretch, too.
Wilmer Flores, 2B			Flores continues to struggle at the plate, which makes it understandable that he’s been out of the starting lineup since the Mets’ trade.
Curtis Granderson, RF			The streaky Granderson has an .835 OPS since the break. That works.
Kelly Johnson, IF/OF	--		Johnson has just a .222 OBP in two games with the Mets but a .556 SLG that gives him a .778 OPS. That’ll play.
Juan Lagares, CF			Like Flores, Lagares is still not having a good year at the plate. He wasn’t very good over this stretch and has just a 71 wRC+ on the season.
John Mayberry Jr., OF			Mayberry hit .000/.067/.000 and was designated for assignment after the Mets’ trade.
Johnny Monell, C			Monell didn’t hit much in a couple of games and is back in Las Vegas.
Danny Muno, IF			Muno was sent to Vegas after the Mets’ trade, too, but he hit .500/.667/.500 over three plate appearances.
Daniel Murphy, 3B/2B			Murphy’s .311 on-base percentage wasn’t fantastic, but it’s not that bad by 2015 standards.
Kirk Nieuwenhuis, OF			Nieuwenhuis broke the fireball rules with a three-home-run game the day before the break. But he’s hit .360/.407/.480 since then, so he won’t be stripped of that status just yet. He’s up to an 84 wRC+ this year, which still isn’t great but is a huge improvement from where he was at the beginning of July.
Kevin Plawecki, C			In seven games, Plawecki hit only .233/.281/.233.
Anthony Recker, C	--		Recker is back with the big league team but hasn’t hit much in limited playing time.
Ruben Tejada, SS			It’s been quite a stretch for Tejada, who hit .341/.375/.386 in ten games.
Juan Uribe, 3B	--		Uribe has made quite the first impression with a walk-off hit, a couple of very nice plays at third base, and a 1.000 OPS in two games, neither of which he started.
David Wright, 3B			We’re at the "believe it when I see it" phase of things here, but Wright is supposed to return to New York and begin baseball activities this week. If that happens and he doesn’t experience setbacks, perhaps he could return this season.
