Even after last night's Carlos Gomez debacle, the Mets continue to look for a bat. According to Newsday, Sandy Alderson has not ended his pursuit of offensive help. There is no telling who specifically they are pursuing, but Justin Upton, Yoenis Cespedes, Jay Bruce, Gerardo Parra, Will Venable, and Carlos Gonzalez have all been rumored to be available.
Although any of these players could be a possibility for the Mets, it appears that Carlos Gomez is not. Alderson was adamant last night that the Mets were no longer interested in Gomez due to concerns regarding his hip, which caused him to miss time earlier this season.
With the trade deadline just over 24 hours away, the Mets are still in need of an offensive upgrade. The Mets have scored the fewest runs of any MLB team, and are having one of the worst offensive seasons in team history. It will be interesting to see what the Mets will do, especially after last night.
