Two days after he was nearly traded away, Wilmer Flores had himself a night at Citi Field. He made a great play in the first inning, getting a standing ovation as a result. He got another one of those in his first at-bat. And a few hours later, he got the best one of all with a walk-off home run against the Nationals in the twelfth inning. Oh, and he drove in the Mets' first run of the game earlier, which prompted an ovation, too.
Matt Harvey was great, taking a perfect game into the sixth and giving up just one run in seven-and-two-thirds innings. The Mets' bullpen shut the Nationals out the rest of the way. But Wilmer Flores.
