Friday was a huge day for the Mets, who led things off with a trade for Tigers' outfielder Yoenis Cespedes in exchange for minor league pitchers Michael Fulmer and Luis Cessa. He'll slot into the middle of the Mets' lineup and provide the Mets with plenty of outfield options. Cespedes thinks his new team can go very far!

Jerry Seinfeld is a big fan of the deal, using a line from his show to show just how much he liked it. Mets fans appear to be the big winners of their trades, as Sandy Alderson has given us all a reason to believe! Keith Law says the Mets gave up a lot in prospects to make a deal but they'll worry about next season later. Time to meet and greet the new Mets!

It was also a big day for two players who were nearly dealt to the Brewers for Carlos Gomez. Wilmer Flores went from tears to cheers, as his walkoff home run in the 12th inning won it last night. Zack Wheeler, meanwhile, called the Mets GM and said that he really wants to stay with the club. Really cool to see players actually WANT to be Mets!

Once the Mets finish up with the Nationals on Sunday, they have an easy schedule the rest of the way.

Michael Cuddyer is set to begin a rehab assignment in the near future, giving the Mets another option.

Around the NL East

The Phillies beat up on the Braves 9-3 last night after trading Ben Revere to the Blue Jays. Atlanta had a quiet deadline after a trade on Thursday.

A.J. Ramos got knocked around in extra innings, as the Marlins lost to the Padres 8-3. Miami shipped off Dan Haren to the Cubs among other trades.

It was a quiet deadline for the Nationals, at least for everyone except Bryce Harper who got tossed yet again. That needs to stop.

Around the Majors

There was plenty of trade deadline action yesterday but the Padres did nothing! Yikes.

Pretty cool look at walk-up music and the job of an MLB sound man.

Madison Bumgarner caused a bench clearing incident last night, which has become a bit of a disturbing trend for the lefty.

Kendrys Morales is well known for breaking his leg in a celebration at home plate a few years back but the Royals' slugger showed off some sweet moves at the plate yesterday.
