Things looked grim early, but the Mets rode Lucas Duda's scorching-hot bat to a comeback 3-2 win against the Nationals. Jacob deGrom struggled and allowed two first-inning runs, but gutted his way through five scoreless innings after that. Duda hit home runs in the fourth and seventh innings and then drove a double to left to score Curtis Granderson with the game-winning run in the eighth. Jeurys Familia exorcised his second-half demons with a 1-2-3 inning to save the win.
The win puts the Mets one game behind Washington for the division lead. Noah Syndergaard faces Jordan Zimmermann tomorrow night (boo Sunday night game) with first place on the line.
