Though he didn't get a chance at his second career shutout (the first also came against the Rockies in 2013), Matt Harvey twirled an eight-inning gem with no walks and four strikeouts as the Mets defeated Colorado 4-0. Ruben Tejada delivered the only run the Mets would get off of Rockies starter Chris Rusin, while Curtis Granderson and Juan Lagares added some insurance off of Boone Logan in the eighth. Lagares, in his first start in a week, had three hits, two doubles, and two RBI, firmly stating his case to be starting against all left-handed pitchers.
The win puts the Mets two games up on the Nationals pending Washington's game against Zach Greinke and the NL West leading Dodgers.
