Triple-A - Las Vegas 51s (66-55)_______________________________________
IOWA 6, LAS VEGAS 1 (Box)
It was a slow night for the Las Vegas offense, with the exception of Brandon Allen, as they fell to Iowa 6-1. Allen went 3-for-4 with a home run, while the rest of the 51s picked up only two hits. Dillon Gee took the loss and was underwhelming in five innings of work, allowing five runs on seven hits, walking three and striking out one.
Double-A - Binghamton Mets (64-54)_____________________________________
NEW BRITAIN 3, BINGHAMTON 1 (Box)
Binghamton's offense struggled mightly in a 3-1 loss to New Britain. The B-Mets struck out 12 times and managed just one hit in eight at-bats with runners in scoring position. Shortstop Gavin Cecchini was one of the bright spots again for Binghamton, going 2-for-5 with his 25th double of the season, raising his average to .316.
Advanced-A - St. Lucie Mets (59-59 / 24-24)_____________________________________
JUPITER 4, ST. LUCIE 3 (Box)
Steven Matz made his first rehab appearance for St. Lucie, as he works his way back from a lat injury. Matz gave up a run on three hits and fanned two during his one inning of work. The other two rehabbing Mets, David Wright and Kirk Nieuwenhuis, combined to go 0-for-7 with two walks and two runs scored in the 4-3 loss to Jupiter. DH Matt Oberste picked up two hits, including a double, and added an RBI. First baseman Dominic Smith also added an RBI, his 70th on the season.
Low-A - Savannah Sand Gnats (69-48 / 30-17)__________________________________
SAVANNAH 7, GREENSBORO 3 (Box)
Savannah extended their winning streak to twelve behind a strong start from Josh Prevost. Prevost pitched seven innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits, while walking none and striking out three. Savannah center fielder Patrick Biondi put a close game out of reach in the seventh when he lifted a two-out, three-run home run that provided a four-run lead.
SS-A - Brooklyn Cyclones (25-29)_______________________________________
HUDSON VALLEY 7, BROOKLYN 1 (Box)
Brooklyn's offense was held to just two hits in a 7-1 loss to Hudson Valley. A single in the fourth by third baseman David Thompson and a triple in the fifth by Manuel Hilario were all that the Cyclones could muster off Hudson Valley starter Michael Velazsquez.
Rookie - Kingsport Mets (27-24)__________________________
KINGSPORT 7, JOHNSON CITY 6 (Box)
Dash Winningham homered twice and drove in five runs leading Kingsport past Johnson City 7-6. Kingsport trailed 6-2 in the sixth when Winningham blasted a two-run shot pulling the Mets closer. He came up again in the seventh with the Mets trailing 6-5 and cranked his second two-run bomb of the night vaulting Kingsport into the lead. Witt Haggard shutdown Johnson City over the next two innings to pick up his first professional save.
Rookie - GCL Mets (25-23)__________________________
GCL CARDINALS 2, GCL METS 1 (Box)
Back-to-back walks issued by relievers Luis Carreno and Alejandro Castro to start the bottom of the ninth inning spelled doom for the GCL Mets as Bryce Denton followed with a game-winning single giving the GCL Cardinals a 2-1 win. The Mets only run came in the eighth, an RBI single off the bat of Cecilio Aybar that scored Franklin Correa. Mets 2015 second-round pick Desmond Lindsey went 1-for-3 with a stolen base.
