Mets' Patrick Mazeika, Kevin Kaczmarski named to Appalachian League All-Star team

The 2015 Mets' draftees have put up stellar numbers in rookie ball this year.

Catcher Patrick Mazeika and outfielder Kevin Kaczmarski of the Kingsport Mets were selected to the 2015 Appalachian League All-Star team today.

Mazeika has hit .360/.452/.559 in his first professional season. The Mets' 2015 eighth-round pick out of Stetson University currently leads the league in batting average and on-base percentage and is second in RBIs with 47, trailing only Kingsport teammate Dash Winningham, who leads with 48. The 21-year-old Mazeika also leads the league with 27 doubles and ranks second in hits with 76.

Kaczmarski, the Mets' 2015 ninth-round pick out of the University of Evansville, is batting .353 on the season, which places him second in the league behind Mazeika. He also ranks first overall in hits with 79, second in runs scored with 43, and is tied for second with 18 stolen bases.

The All-Star tandem has helped Kingsport to a 33-27 record so far this season, good enough to lead the Appalachian Western division by 1.5 games with eight left to play.
