The Mets scored runs in bunches early, gave up a few late, and scored a few more of their own in the ninth to beat the Phillies 9-4 and win their sixth game in a row. Bartolo Colon was outstanding in seven shutout innings. Michael Cuddyer had quite a night at the plate, as he went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run.
Heading into the eighth, the Mets were up 6-0. The only blip in the game came in bottom of that inning, as the lower-ranking parts of the Mets' bullpen allowed four runs. But the Mets scored three more runs in the ninth, thanks in large part to the awesomeness of Curtis Granderson and Yoenis Cespedes.
Oh and the Nationals lost, so the Mets are 6.5 games up in the NL East.
