Final Score: Mets 9, Phillies 5—Sweep complete, seven wins in a row

The Mets trailed by five runs early but came back yet again to beat—and sweep—the Phillies.

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

The Mets beat the Phillies to a complete a four-game sweep and extend their winning streak to seven games with a SCORE victory. Although Jon Niese gave up five runs in the third inning before the Mets had scored any, the team came back to tie the game on a two-run home run from Travis d'Arnaud in the fourth, a two-run home run from Yoenis Cespedes in the fifth, and a solo home run from Kelly Johnson in the fifth.

Neither team scored again until the Mets plated four runs in the thirteenth inning, the first two of which scored on a Daniel Murphy double. And the game featured an incredible 1-3-1 play on which a batted ball bounced off Carlos Torres's foot to Murphy at first base, who knocked it down and recovered in time to flip it to Torres, who beat Jeff Francoeur to first base by a split second to record the out—one of the better defensive plays you'll ever see.
