Final Score: Red Sox 3, Mets 1—Sometimes Joe Kelly pitches well?

The Mets weren't able to do much at the plate.

Andy Marlin-USA TODAY Sports

Jacob deGrom struck out ten and allowed two runs in six innings of work against the Red Sox, but the Mets couldn't solve the seemingly-solvable puzzle that was Joe Kelly and lost to Boston for the second time in as many days. Neither team scored until the Red Sox got those two runs against deGrom in the sixth inning.

Mookie Betts hit a solo home run against Hansel Robles in the seventh, and the Mets got on the board with one run in the bottom of the inning on a hard-hit double by Juan Uribe. But that was it for the Mets' scoring. The highlight the rest of the way was probably that Bartolo Colon pitched a scoreless inning in the top of the ninth, helping out an overworked bullpen that should soon get some relief.
