The Mets have been living in a bizarro world as they've built their lead in the National League East. For the most part, the lineup has been great at scoring runs, while the team's typically-dominant pitching hasn't quite dominated. That they played in Baltimore, Colorado, and Philadelphia surely contributed to that reversal of fortunes.
Player | Last Week | This Week | Comment |
---|---|---|---|
Tyler Clippard, RHP | ![]() |
![]() |
Clippard was great in four appearances and has a 0.51 ERA in 17.2 innings since joining the Mets. |
Bartolo Colon, RHP | ![]() |
![]() |
Colon made a very good start and popped up for an inning out of the bullpen on Saturday to give the team’s hard-working relievers a bit of a break. |
Jacob deGrom, RHP | ![]() |
![]() |
deGrom was much better in his start on Saturday than his previous one, but in total, he still came out of the week with an 8.31 ERA. |
Jeurys Familia, RHP | ![]() |
![]() |
Familia threw 4.1 scoreless with a 14.54 K/9, zero walks, and a -0.11 FIP. He’s also throwing a new 95 mile-per-hour split-thing, as if his arsenal needed another real weapon to use against opposing hitters. He is one of the very best relief pitchers in the game right now. |
Sean Gilmartin, LHP | ![]() |
![]() |
Gilmartin threw five scoreless innings with plenty of strikeouts and no walks. He’s been a very pleasant surprise this year. |
Erik Goeddel, RHP | ![]() |
![]() |
Goeddel could rejoin the team soon. |
Matt Harvey, RHP | -- | ![]() |
Harvey looked great with six strong innings in his first start since being skipped for a start in the previous turn through the rotation. |
Steven Matz, LHP | ![]() |
![]() |
Set to make his final rehab start tonight, Matz will rejoin the team tomorrow. |
Jon Niese, LHP | ![]() |
![]() |
Niese’s lone start of the week didn’t go well. He now has a 3.95 ERA and 4.38 FIP on the season. |
Eric O’Flaherty, LHP | ![]() |
![]() |
With a 10.80 ERA for the week, O’Flaherty’s struggles continued. |
Bobby Parnell, RHP | ![]() |
![]() |
Parnell could be back from the disabled list as soon as tomorrow, though he probably shouldn’t see high-leverage work anytime soon, especially now that the Mets have traded for Addison Reed. |
Hansel Robles, RHP | ![]() |
![]() |
Robles worked 4.2 innings for the week and had a 1.93 ERA and 2.91 FIP in them. The inherited run he allowed to score yesterday afternoon was hardly his fault. |
Noah Syndergaard, RHP | ![]() |
![]() |
Syndergaard looked very good yesterday, but his overall numbers in two starts—4.63 ERA, 5.18 FIP—weren’t good. But he should be just fine going forward. |
Carlos Torres, RHP | ![]() |
![]() |
After a pretty long stretch in which he pitched very well, Torres has had a pretty long stretch in which he hasn’t pitched well. |
Logan Verrett, RHP | ![]() |
![]() |
Verrett had a very rough inning out of the bullpen against the Red Sox on Friday night, and he was optioned to make room for Addison Reed. But he should be back as soon as he is eligible to return, either in ten days or if Las Vegas’s season comes to an end. |
