After last night's ballgame, the Mets announced the acquisition of lefty reliever Eric O'Flaherty from the A's and they designated Alex Torres for assignment.

David Wright is aiming to begin a rehab stint early next week. He took BP today at Marlins Park. Meanwhile, Rafael Montero has been MIA since late April and Terry Collins is planning to challenge the righty in St. Lucie.

Yoenis Cespedes says he could picture himself with the Mets for a "long, long time". Hey, that'd be nice. Let's make that happen. Perhaps he doesn't want to be like new teammate Kelly Johnson, who has been a vagabond these past couple of seasons.

Noah Syndergaard has inserted himself into the Rookie of the Year race.

Success on the field has brought a spike in ticket sales to the Mets.

Jeff Sullivan has a great look at Lucas Duda's impressive home run on Sunday against Jordan Zimmermann. Duda's improvement against lefthanded pitching has helped the team a great deal.

Michael Fulmer and Luis Cessa are Tigers prospects now and Toby Hyde profiled the two pitchers. Meanwhile, Toby's Sand Gnats are moving to Columbia, SC next season and will become the Columbia Fireflies.

Around the Majors

Molly Knight, author of the book The Best Team Money Could Buy about the recent Dodgers, wrote a great piece about her atypical path to sports journalism and her experiences as a woman in MLB locker rooms.

A number of young pitchers potentially face innings limits, including a trio of Mets.

Astros shortstop Carlos Correa is only a rookie but he's already a superstar.

Former Mets slugger and longtime minor leaguer Mike Hessman broke the minor league home run record. Congrats, Mike!

After starting out as the league's media arm 15 years ago, MLB Advanced Media has built the future of television.
