The Mets beat the Marlins to complete a series sweep in Miami tonight. Matt Harvey threw seven scoreless innings, and the team scored four runs in the third inning that would have been more than enough to win it. And then Juan Uribe hit a monster three-run home run—with an appropriate bat flip—in the fifth inning to really widen the lead. And they tacked on a run on a Lucas Duda sac fly in the ninth, which was more important than anyone thought at the time.
Bobby Parnell and Eric O'Flaherty pitched a scoreless eighth, but the bullpen pitched terribly in the ninth. The Marlins scored six runs in the frame against O'Flaherty, Hansel Robles, and Jeurys Familia before Familia finally ended the game.
