Mets send Dawrin Frias to A's to complete Eric O'Flaherty trade

The 23-year-old is not considered a top prospect.

The Mets have sent 23-year-old right-handed pitcher Dawrin Frias to the Athletics to complete the Eric O'Flaherty trade. Frias had been with the Brooklyn Cyclones before the trade and was scheduled to start for the Cyclones last night but instead joined his new team, the Vermont Lake Monsters, in the opposing dugout.

O'Flaherty's first outing with the Mets went very poorly, as he gave up four runs in just two-thirds of an inning. The lefty specialist made his second appearance for the Mets last night, hitting right-handed pinch-hitter Brandon Guyer with a pitch before he retired left-handed hitter Kevin Kiermaier on a pop-up.

Frias has been with the Mets organization since 2009 and has a 4.13 ERA over seven seasons in the minor leagues. In 19 relief appearances with the Cyclones this year, he had a 7.22 ERA with 10.0 strikeouts and 6.3 wlaks per nine innings. He was not considered a top prospect within the Mets farm system.
