Yoenis Cespedes says he's looking for a contract that lasts at least six years in free agency. Andy Martino writes that it makes no sense for the Mets to give that to him.

Sandy Alderson says the Mets will judge Matt Harvey beyond his innings number on Sunday. The GM also gave a "no comment" on Terry Collins' contract going forward, though he praised the manager's work. Yankees manager Joe Girardi is impressed by the job Collins has done this year. Tim McCarver is glad that Sandy Alderson fought back against Matt Harvey and Scott Boras.

Steven Matz improved to 4-0 in four starts and looked good, despite not having his best stuff. Matz's family once again filled Citi Field to cheer him on. Speaking of the stadium, it was electric on Friday night and appears to be a weapon like Shea Stadium was.

MIchael Conforto or Greg Bird? Joel Sherman asked eight scouts and 6 of 8 preferred Conforto going forward!

How did the Mets become winners again? It's a combination of Sandy Alderson and Omar Minaya, who gives the current regime (Alderson and Paul DePodesta) a lot of praise.

Travis d'Arnaud looks great for the Mets but can he stay on the field?

After having his back lock up last night, Tyler Clippard says he's good to go. Lefty Dario Alvarez is headed to Port St. Lucie to rehab a groin injury and will miss two weeks minimum.

A fan's Twitter crusade got the Mets to stop a homophobic Kiss Cam gag.

Around the NL East

Despite Jonathan Papelbon blowing another save, the Nationals kept pace with the Mets as they beat the Marlins 5-4 in extra innings. Max Scherzer didn't like Matt Williams coming out to get him in the 7th inning. Yikes.

The Braves defeated the Phillies in game one of the NL East basement battle.

The Good Phight has a funny piece on Ruben Amaro getting reassigned in the Phillies organization.

Are the Marlins better off trading outfielder Marcell Ozuna away?

Around the Majors

How much of a financial windfall can a team get from a playoff berth? Seems pretty relevant to the Mets.

Unfortunately, a great NL Central team is going to get screwed.

The Mariners have started their GM search and former Angels GM Jerry DiPoto is on the list.

Chris Coghlan's slide that finished Jung-Ho Kang's season wasn't dirty but MLB should step in anyway.

Time for the Rockies to go nuclear and blow it all up.
