Noah Syndergaard was dominant, and the Mets scored 12 runs to beat the Reds and—following another loss by the Nationals—drop their magic number to clinch the division to one. Syndergaard consistently threw hard, his breaking pitches all worked well, and he struck out eleven, walked none, and gave up two runs, one of which scored after the bullpen took over for him.
At the plate, Syndergaard singled in a run himself, Lucas Duda hit a couple of three-run home runs, and Curtis Granderson hit a three-run home run of his own. And that doesn’t even cover it all. But the Mets ran away with the game well before the bullpen surrendered a few runs.
Love the Mets.
