Final Score: Mets 8, Reds 1—Hangover lineup hangs Reds out to dry on the roof

The Mets didn't play their regulars today, but they still won by seven runs.

David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

A day after clinching the National League East with their third straight win against the Reds, the Mets beat the Reds for a fourth time this afternoon in Cincinnati. Despite rolling out a B-at-best-lineup, the Mets scored runs with ease, and Jacob deGrom looked fantastic in a six-inning, one-run start.

The highlights at the plate were a couple of home runs, one from Dilson Herrera and the other from Kevin Plawecki. But the Mets scored in a variety of ways in five different innings as they completed the four-game sweep. With the division over, home field advantage in the National League Division Series is still up for grabs. The Dodgers are a game behind the Mets in that competition at the moment and play the Rockies in Colorado this afternoon.
