The Mets lost to the Phillies 4-3 in Philadelphia tonight. Bartolo Colon gave up a three-run home run to Darin Ruf in the first inning, and Jon Niese, appearing in relief for the first time in several years, gave up a run in one-and-two-thirds innings of work. Niese didn't really look any different from the way he has looked as a starter all year.
All three of the Mets' runs in the game scored on Lucas Duda home runs. He hit a solo home run in the fourth, and with the Mets down 4-1, he hit a three-run home run in the ninth. But that was it for the Mets, as they didn't complete the comeback. They're still playing for home-field advantage in the NLDS, but it's hard to get down about a loss considering they've already secured their spot in the playoffs.
