Your Wednesday morning dose of New York Mets and Major League Baseball news, notes, and links.

Matt Harvey is going to be limited to one start in the NLDS, likely in game 3. However, he will not be limited innings or pitch-wise in that start.

Steven Matz has some stiffness in his right side, which will push his scheduled start back a day. Matz apparently slept on a sofa, causing the stiffness which is not considered serious.

Jonathon Niese made his bullpen debut and wasn't all that sharp.

Is Curtis Granderson the Mets' MVP this season? I think I'd personally vote for him, especially since he was the only bat going in the lineup in June and July.

It's cool to be a Mets fan now and a lot of fairweather fans have appeared after they clinched the division. Psshhh, we were Mets fans before it was cool!

Travis d'Arnaud got to match up with his brother Chase d'Arnaud last night and will likely get another chance or two this series.

Around the NL East

Trea Turner homered, his first of his career, but that's all the Nationals managed as they fell to the Braves 2-1. What does the future look like for Matt Williams? Not great, Bob!

There's a bigger mess in the National League East than the Braves!

It's not the Marlins, though they fell to the Rays 4-2 on Tuesday. They're planning to lock up Dee Gordon long term this offseason, which probably isn't a bad idea.

What do the Phillies have at stake this final week of a meaningless season? EVERYTHING!

Around the Majors

Greg Holland is going under the knife to have Tommy John surgery, which will likely cost him all of 2016.

Stephen Piscotty is okay after a scary outfield collision on Monday night. That brought back memories of the Mike Cameron/Carlos Beltran crash in 2005.

This is a few days old but it's puzzling that MLBAM would want to restrict access to baseball highlights when other leagues are more welcoming.

The unwritten rules of baseball are very, very stupid.

Could the Nationals' Ian Desmond land in San Diego after this season?

This Date In Mets History

You know you want to re-live Tom Glavine's act of Glavotage, right? How about the 1962 Mets' 140th defeat? Sorry!

Yesterday At AA

Aaron Yorke previewed the Mets series with the Phillies.

Who will end up on the bench for the Mets in the postseason? How does that possible bench compare to the Dodgers?

Cool hypothetical here: who would win a playoff series between the 2006 and 2015 Mets? I'm thinking the current iteration due to superior starting pitching. Also, most of the 2006 dudes are kinda old now (I'm kidding).
