Final Score: Mets 7, Marlins 0—Colon large and in charge

Bartolo Colon was superb and the Met offense smacked around Brad Hand.

Robert Mayer-USA TODAY Sports

After a tough loss and amid a brewing innings limit controversy, the Mets came out swinging and clobbered the Marlins 7-0. Travis d'Arnaud hit a first inning, three run home run, and Wilmer Flores followed with a home run of his own on the next pitch. The Mets added three more runs in the second, two on an opposite field shot from Juan Lagares that chased Marlins starter Brad Hand from the game.

Meanwhile, Bartolo Colon continued his streak of excellence, tossing a shutout and extending his scoreless inning streak to 25 consecutive innings. Colon struck out only two, but induced three double plays to work around eight Marlins hits and tossed in a sparkling behind the back flip in the seventh inning. In the first Met complete game of 2015, Colon used only 100 pitches to slice through the Marlins. It's also the first time Colon has ever had three consecutive scoreless starts in his eighteen year career.
