Meet the Mets
Mike Piazza visited the Empire State Building and spoke on a number of different topics, including how he's uncomfortable being labeled a hero after his post-9/11 home run. Piazza said he became a great hitter by studying Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio. Former teammate and Hall of Famer Tom Glavine said Piazza "was a special player".
Despite all the talk about Piazza, the current Mets aren't planning to make a splash like they did back then. Instead, they plan to slow-play the bullpen market over the next few weeks.
Sandy Alderson is back to work despite his cancer diagnosis and feels good about his health and the team.
Around the NL East
Daniel Murphy spoke about what it's like being rivals of Jacob deGrom, Matt Harvey, and Noah Syndergaard.
The Nationals swapped Drew Storen to the Blue Jays for center fielder Ben Revere.
Kelly Johnson is officially back with the Braves and they lost Joey Terdoslavich to the Orioles on waivers.
People around baseball are praising the moves the Phillies have made this offseason.
Not only are the Marlins a bad team but they don't appear to have much top end talent on the farm.
Around the Majors
Former Cardinals scouting director Chris Correa pleaded guilty to hacking the Astros' Ground Control system.
The Angels are saying they're not really involved with Yoenis Cespedes. Meanwhile, the Tigers are only looking for "complementary outfielders".
The governor of Kansas joked about the Royals re-signing Alex Gordon on Twitter and it backfired on him.
The Dodgers still have an interesting rotation, though perhaps in a different way.
This Date In Mets History
Star center fielder Carlos Beltran agreed to sign with the Mets on this date in 2005.
