Fresh off of their deal to extend their spring training lease for 25 years, the Mets have released their 2017 spring training schedule.
The 2017 exhibition season will start on February 24 with a road game against the Boston Red Sox and will conclude on March 29 with a road game against the Atlanta Braves. Other key dates include the team’s first home game on February 25 against the Washington Nationals and the its final home game on March 28 against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Absent from 2017’s list of spring training opponents is the New York Yankees. Only seven unique opponents appear on the spring training schedule; aside from the Braves, Cardinals, Nationals, and Red Sox, the Mets will also face the Astros, Marlins, and Tigers.
In total, the Mets are scheduled to play 35 spring training games, six of which are split-squad games. All home games are played at Traditional Field in Port St. Lucie, and each home game starts at 1:05 PM. On the contrary, each road game starts at 1:10 PM.
After 35 low-stakes ballgames, the 2017 regular season begins on April 3 at 1:10 PM with a home game against the Atlanta Braves.
