Baseball Prospectus released its ranking of the Mets’ top ten prospects for 2017, and shortstop Amed Rosario, who was ranked number two by the publication last season, headlines the list. Here’s the full top 10 (subscription required):

- LHP Thomas Szapucki
- 1B Dominic Smith
- CF Desmond Lindsay
- RHP Justin Dunn

With his offensive potential and defensive prowess, Rosario’s ranking at the top of the list should come as no surprise to anyone. Robert Gsellman, the highest-ranked pitcher in the system, follows Rosario at number two. He ranked ninth on BP’s 2016 list.
Newcomers to the list are left-handed pitcher Thomas Szapucki, right-handed pitcher Justin Dunn, and shortstop Andres Gimenez. while Dominic Smith, Desmond Lindsay, Brandon Nimmo, Gavin Cecchini, and Wuilmer Becerra round out the rest of it. All five were listed in the publication’s 2016 list, though in different places.
How does the Baseball Prospectus Mets top prospect list differ from our own rankings here at Amazin’ Avenue? Stay tuned in the following weeks to find out.
