It’s almost impossible to imagine a manager getting traded in this day and age, but 49 years ago today the Mets managed (get it?) to do just that. They brought Gil Hodges back to New York in exchange for pitcher Bill Denehy and some cash. Two years later, Hodges helped lead the team to its first World Series title.
