For the third installment of our walk-off-themed Mind Bogglers, we’re asking you to name every Met to hit a walk-off home run in the 1980s. You can find the ’60s version here and the ’70s version here.
Mets players who hit a walk-off home run in the 1980s.
The Mets hit 27 walk-off homers in the 1980s, more than they hit in any other decade. Unsurprisingly, this coincided with the winningest period of franchise history. From 1980 to 1989, the Mets went 816-743, good for a .523 winning percentage.
During that time, the team won at least 90 games in five consecutive seasons, won at least 100 games twice, reached Game 7 of the NLCS in 1988, and won the World Series in 1986. The ’80s Mets teams featured a potent offense that finished the decade third in fWAR and fifth in home runs.
You’ll have four minutes for this quiz. Good luck, and remember to post your time and score in the comments!
