Last week, we asked you to name every Met to hit a walk-off home run in the 1960s. For this week’s Mind Boggler, we’d like you to do the same for the following decade: the 1970s.
Mets players who hit a walk-off home run in the 1970s.
After hitting 25 walk-off homers in the ’60s, Mets players hit just 17 a decade later. This is surprising for two reasons. First, while the Mets were not a particularly strong team in the ’70s, they were much better then than they were in the ’60s, evidenced by winning percentages of .473 and .382, respectively. Second, the Mets came into existence in 1962, meaning that they played two more seasons in the ’70s than they did in the ’60s.
Is there any rhyme or reason behind all of this? Probably not. But it makes for some interesting Mets trivia!
You’ll have three minutes for this quiz. Good luck, and remember to post your time and score in the comments!
