Is it spring training yet?
It sure feels like it with SNY announcing its 2016 spring training broadcast schedule which means we are one step closer to watching actual Mets baseball again. Between SNY and PIX11, they will televise all 14 of the Mets' home spring training games in Port St. Lucie.
Although the Mets' first official spring training game is on March 3 in Viera against the Nationals, the first broadcast and first home game is on March 4 against the Miami Marlins at 1:10 p.m. The game will even feature a pre-game show at 12:30 p.m. with host Gary Apple and analyst Nelson Figueroa. Gary Cohen, Ron Darling, and Keith Hernandez will all be on hand to call the game, beginning their 11th season in the broadcast booth. Joining the telecast in his second season will be on-field reporter Steve Gelbs.
