The Mets lost their third straight divisional game, this time to the Marlins. Steven Matz had the worst start of his career, allowing seven runs in an inning and two-thirds. The bullpen brigade followed up, and the Mets combined to throw over 200 pitches in the game. If you have to throw that many pitches, you probably didn't play well.
It's only six games in, and it was Matz's first start, so let's hold the freaking out for at least a few more weeks. However, a whole lot of nothing went right today. Terry Collins did Terry Collins things, Jerry Blevins lost his perfect record, and Curtis Granderson was hitless again.
On the bright side, David Wright and Yoenis Cespedes had nice games, Addison Reed struck out four in one-and-two-thirds innings, and Keith Hernandez got confused as to which games he worked and which he didn't. Tomorrow is another day, and thank the baseball gods for that.
