The Mets fell to 2-5 tonight, losing 2-1 to the Miami Marlins. Early on, it looked like the offense would break through against Jose Fernandez. A Lucas Duda single in the first drove in the first run of the game. Unfortunately, it would prove to be the Mets' only run of the night. The Amazins were held to just five hits and four walks.
Derek Dietrich and Martin Prado drove in the Marlins' two runs, as the Fish secured the win despite minimal production from their big bats. Giancarlo Stanton, Christian Yelich, Marcell Ozuna, and Dee Gordon combined to go just 3-for-15, albeit with three walks.
The Mets will look to avoid the sweep tomorrow, as Logan Verrett fills in for Jacob deGrom at 1:10 PM.
