Matt Harvey took a perfect game into the fifth inning but was very much imperfect after that. He wound up allowing five runs on six hits with four strikeouts and three walks in five-and-two-thirds innings.
The Mets had led 1-0 until Harvey gave up a couple of runs in the in the fifth. He gave up the other three in the sixth, and after Rafael Montero bailed him out of a bases-loaded jam in that inning, he gave up two runs of his own in the seventh. The Mets put up a fight in the eighth inning, as Yoenis Cespedes hit a three-run home run and Neil Walker hit a solo home run, but that was the end of the team's scoring for the day.
