The Mets racked up fourteen hits, two of which were home runs, but wound up losing 5-4 in eleven innings in Philadelphia tonight. Bartolo Colon gave up three runs, struck out four, and walked one in six innings of work. But the Mets were ahead 4-3 by the time he was out of the game.
Those runs scored on an Asdrubal Cabrera double—which was nearly a home run if not for a fan's glove and an ambiguous top of the right field wall—and a wild pitch by Jeremy Hellickson, plus solo home runs from Yoenis Cespedes and Lucas Duda. But the Mets didn't score again, and they gave up a tying run in the seventh and the deciding run in the eleventh.
