Triple-A - Las Vegas 51s (8-10)_______________________________________

LAS VEGAS 7, ALBUQUERQUE 2 (Box)

The 51s won their second straight to split a series with the Isotopes. Gabriel Ynoa still isn't striking batters out, but he continued his very strong start to the season. He lowered his season ERA to 1.48, allowing one run on five hits in 6.2 innings. Dilson Herrera had a double in the leadoff spot, but he struck out three times. Gavin Cecchini had a strong night at the dish, going 2-for-3 with a home run and a walk, though he committed an error at short. T.J. Rivera also had a nice night with a home run and a stolen base. Brandon Nimmo's struggles continued, as he collected a golden sombrero. He's striking out a lot and not walking or hitting.

  • 2B Dilson Herrera: 1-5, 2B, 3 K
  • SS Gavin Cecchini: 2-3, 2 R, HR, RBI, BB, E

  • Double-A - Binghamton Mets (8-9)_____________________________________

    BINGHAMTON 3, PORTLAND 2 (Box)

The B-Mets are off to a decent start considering the relative lack of talent on the roster. Dom Smith went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and an RBI, and Kyle Johnson and L.J. Mazzilli combined for four walks. The story of the game, though, was Andrew Barbosa. The 28-year old, who spent part of last season with the Long Island Ducks, struck out ten with just one walk and three hits, surrendering two runs across 7.1 innings. Barbosa has a 1.04 WHIP and 21:1 K:BB ratio in three starts so far for Las Vegas and Binghamton. Akeel Morris, who has struggled mightily to start the season, had a nice outing. The Virgin Islands native struck out three of the five batters he faced without allowing a baserunner to close out the 3-2 victory.

  • CF Kyle Johnson: 0-1, 2 R, 2 BB, K, SB
  • RF Maikis De La Cruz: 0-3, RBI
  • SS Derrik Gibson: 1-4, 2B, K

  • Akeel Morris: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
  • Advanced-A - St. Lucie Mets (12-7)_____________________________________

ST. LUCIE 10, CHARLOTTE 5 (Box)

St. Lucie's offense went off against the Stone Crabs, more than enough to shake off a poor pitching performance. Champ Stuart, Luis Guillorme, and Wuilmer Becerra each had a pair of hits, improving Becerra's season batting average to .318. Amed Rosario had himself a big day, going 3-for-5 with a triple and a home run. Rosario's off to a great start in 2016, with a .321/.345/.590 line. He has two doubles, five triples, and three home runs so far after spending 2015 as the youngest player in the Florida State League, and he could be knocking on Binghamton's door soon if he keeps hitting like this.

  • CF Champ Stuart: 2-6, R, 2 RBI, 2 K, SB
  • 2B Luis Guillorme: 2-5, 3 R, BB
  • SS Amed Rosario: 3-5, R, 3B, HR, 4 RBI, K, E
  • 1B Michael Katz: 0-2, R, 3 BB, E

  • Alberto Baldonado: 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 0 K
  • Ben Griset: 1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
  • Low-A - Columbia Fireflies (11-8)__________________________________

    COLUMBIA 13, LEXINGTON 2 (Box)

Columbia put up 13 runs on the Legends, with the majority of the lineup contributing. Home runs from Tucker Tharp, J.C. Rodriguez, and Ivan Wilson contributed, and David Thompson's strong season continued. The third baseman, a 2015 fourth-round pick from The U, has a .304/.370/.478 triple slash line so far. Chase Ingram contributed an excellent start, as the 21-year old righty and 2015 sixth-rounder gave up just one run and struck out eight in six innings. Ingram has a 28:4 K:BB ratio with a 2.45 ERA so far this season, and is generating a healthy amount of ground balls to boot.

  • RF-CF Tucker Tharp: 2-5, 2 R, HR, RBI, 2 K, SB
  • 2B Vinny Siena: 0-2, 2 R, 2 BB, 2 K
