Opening Day is a lot of fun if you're a baseball fan, and if you're reading this, you probably are one. Hooray! Unfortunately, even on a day as wonderful as this one, it's impossible to watch every moment of every game across the country.
Just kidding. This is 2016. Of course it's possible to watch everything, even when Opening Day is two days long like it is this year. And we're about to show you how.
Sunday, April 3
There are only three games on the slate today, but the starts are staggered so that you can watch all three in a row without too much channel flipping or screen swapping.
St. Louis Cardinals @ Pittsburgh Pirates
First pitch: 1:05 PM
How to watch with a television: ESPN, ROOT SPORTS Pittsburgh, Fox Sports Midwest
How to watch on the internet: Watch ESPN
It's the first game of the season! On a Sunday afternoon? That's a little funky, but it should be a good one as Adam Wainwright makes his return to the mound against the rival Buccos.
Toronto Blue Jays @ Tampa Bay Rays
First pitch: 4:05 PM
How to watch with a television: ESPN2, Sun Sports, Sportsnet
How to watch on the internet: Watch ESPN
There's no R.A. Dickey in this game, so you should ignore it. Just kidding. The American League East is supposed to be wild this year with a bunch of good teams but without one that is supposed to separate itself. Either of these squads can make a statement with a few early victories.
New York Mets @ Kansas City Royals
First pitch: 8:37 PM
How to watch with a television: ESPN
How to watch on the internet: Watch ESPN
I know. You probably haven't read enough about this one yet. Just in case you missed it, here's a link to our extensive Opening Day coverage!
Monday, April 4
Another Opening Day? Yes, another Opening Day! 22 more teams get their seasons started on Monday afternoon and evening, but the Mets have the day off.
Houston Astros @ New York Yankees
First pitch: 1:05 PM
How to watch with a television: ESPN, YES, ROOT SPORTS Southwest
How to watch on the internet: Watch ESPN
It's weird that there's only one game in this time slot on the Monday version of Opening Day. Shouldn't a bunch of east coast teams be playing in the early afternoon so that we can skip work and stuff? This is one thing that the Yankees do right.
San Francisco Giants @ Milwaukee Brewers
First pitch: 2:10 PM
How to watch with a television: Fox Sports Wisconsin, CSN Bay Area
How to watch on the internet: MLB.TV
Giants fans are so lucky. They get baseball at 11:00 a.m. local time! Also, they get to play the Brewers.
Minnesota Twins @ Baltimore Orioles
First pitch: 3:05 PM
How to watch with a television: MASN, Fox Sports North
How to watch on the internet: MLB.TV
Are the MASN announcers still doing the thing where they wear orange tuxedos on Opening Day? That's reason enough to watch this battle between a couple of teams who could end up in the cellar of this respective divisions.
Seattle Mariners @ Texas Rangers
First pitch: 4:05 PM
How to watch with a television: ESPN, Fox Sports Southwest, ROOT SPORTS Northwest
How to watch on the internet: Watch ESPN
Apparently the Mariners have to make six separate trips to Texas this year because they never play Houston and Texas on the same road trip. That seems especially rough for a club that already racks up more miles than any other team in the big leagues. At least Seattle should be fresh for this one against Mets villain Cole Hamels.
Boston Red Sox @ Cleveland Indians
First pitch: 4:10 PM
How to watch with a television: SportsTime Ohio, NESN
How to watch on the internet: MLB.TV
I'm surprised this isn't an ESPN game since it features the Red Sox and a sexy pitching matchup. David Price and Corey Kluber could strike out 30 batters between them.
Philadelphia Phillies @ Cincinnati Reds
First pitch: 4:10 PM
How to watch with a television: Fox Sports Ohio, CSN Philadelphia
How to watch on the internet: MLB.TV
Best game of the day, right? Both groups of fans have to be thinking that this is a great opportunity to get their seasons off to a good start.
Washington Nationals @ Atlanta Braves
First pitch: 4:10 PM
How to watch with a television: Fox Sports Southeast, MASN 2
How to watch on the internet: MLB.TV
It's the team that's going to give the Mets problems this year versus the one that will give them problems for years to come. Atlanta has acquired a bunch of talented youngsters such as top draft pick Dansby Swanson during the rebuild, but the Braves aren't quite ready for prime time yet. At least that's what most experts think. Maybe they can change some minds with some victories over Washington.
Los Angeles Dodgers @ San Diego Padres
First pitch: 7:05 PM
How to watch with a television: ESPN, Fox Sports San Diego, SportsNet LA
How to watch on the internet: Watch ESPN
Toronto Blue Jays @ Tampa Bay Rays
First pitch: 7:10 PM
How to watch with a television: Sun Sports, Sportsnet
How to watch on the internet: MLB.TV
These are the only two teams playing on both Sunday and Monday. I guess domes are good for something. Also, Dickey is pitching in this game!
Colorado Rockies @ Arizona Diamondbacks
First pitch: 9:40 PM
How to watch with a television: Fox Sports Arizona, ROOT SPORTS Rocky Mountain
How to watch on the internet: MLB.TV
If Arizona wants to live up to the offseason hype, stomping the Rockies with Zack Greinke on the mound would be a good start. Those uniforms, though...
Chicago Cubs @ Los Angeles Angels
First pitch: 10:05 PM
How to watch with a television: ESPN2
How to watch on the internet: Watch ESPN
These teams are playing a game on Sunday as well in the same ballpark, but that's a spring training game. No way that confuses anybody.
Chicago White Sox @ Oakland Athletics
First pitch: 10:05 PM
How to watch with a television: CSN California, CSN Chicago
How to watch on the internet: MLB.TV
Wrap up the evening with one of the best pitching matchups of the day as Chris Sale takes the hill opposite Sonny Gray. And make sure you get plenty of sleep, because there's another 10 games on Tuesday. Baseball's back!
