The Mets lost their first game of the season to the Royals by one run, as Kansas City scored four runs before the Mets scored any and a late-inning Mets comeback fell short. Matt Harvey allowed four runs, three of which were earned, in five-and-two-thirds innings with a pair of strikeouts and walks.
The Mets weren't able to score until the eighth inning, when they plated three runs against Joakim Soria to get within one run of tying the game. They got runners on the corners against Wade Davis in the ninth inning, too, but David Wright and Yoenis Cespedes struck out to end the game.
