Curtis Granderson is asking fans to vote for his walk-up song for the Mets' home opener on Friday. Through Thursday night, fans can vote—if they provide an email address to Players Tribune—for one of nine tracks nominated by his teammates.
The candidates, and the players who proposed them, are:
- "Happy" by Pharrell Williams – David Wright
- "Watch Out" by 2 Chainz – Jacob deGrom
- "Summer Sixteen" by Drake – Jeurys Familia
- "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-A-Lot – Wilmer Flores
- "Work" by Rihanna – Lucas Duda
- "Whoomp! (There It Is)" by Tag Team – Yoenis Céspedes
- "Livin' la Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin – Bartolo Colon
- "Beat It" by Michael Jackson – Neil Walker
- "Drink In My Hand" by Eric Church – Eric Campbell
Granderson is coming off a resurgent 2015 season that saw him take over the Mets' everyday leadoff spot. On Sunday's Opening Day game against the Royals, he reprised that role, going 1-for-4 with a run scored.
