Final Score: Mets 2, Royals 0—Syndergaard, bullpen dominate Royals in Mets' first win of 2016

Noah Syndergaard was fantastic, and the Mets beat the Royals this afternoon in Kansas City.

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Mets won their first game of the season this afternoon thanks to a dominant performance by Noah Syndergaard, a two-run home run from Neil Walker, and three perfect innings from the relief pitching trio of Jim Henderson, Addison Reed, and Jeurys Familia.

Walker hit that home run in the top of the fourth inning, and it was plenty for the Mets' pitchers. Syndergaard struck out nine, and he allowed just three hits and one walk. So the Mets return to New York with a 1-1 record. Now, they just have to wait until Friday to play another baseball game.
