The Mets beat the Dodgers 4-2 on Monday night in Los Angeles. Steven Matz pitched well, as he allowed only two runs in six innings with five strikeouts and one walk. And the Mets got solo home runs from Curtis Granderson in the first and Kevin Plawecki in the second to jump out to an early lead.
Yoenis Cespedes added a run with a single in the third, and Matz doubled in a run—following an inning-extending error by Howie Kendrick—in the sixth. The only blemish for Matz came in the fourth, when he allowed a two-run home run to Trayce Thompson.
The Mets' bullpen—Hansel Robles, Antonio Bastardo, Jim Henderson, and Jeurys Familia—shut out the Dodgers the rest of the way.
