A pleasant good morning and welcome to This Week In SNY! We've got plenty of Gary, Keith, and Ron action to get to so let's jump right into this thing with...
May 3, 2016
THE HORSES ARE ON THE TRACK! Keith was talking about his love of Beetle Bailey comics when suddenly
Gary: What was the dog in Beetle Bailey? Otto?
Keith: I forget but I did like Beetle Bailey and uhh...OH! (Call to the Post)
Gary: In the case of Marmaduke, dogs that look like horses.

After Braves starter Jhoulys Chacin singled in the 3rd inning, he put on a jacket at first base. Ronnie told the booth he's all about wearing the jacket on the bases as opposed to a hoodie but he still went to town on Chacin's fashion sense...
No hoodie, I mean, come on, you can't wear the hoodie. This is baseball. But you also don't wear the sleeping bag that Chacin has on! How about something a little slimmer fitting? Something you can run in!
It must have been scary cold in New York that night because it looks like Chacin wore his official Braves Goretex jacket.
With Hunter Cervenka entering the game, the booth revisited a conversation they had a few weeks ago about the 1970's and 80's LA punk rock scene. Gary is surprisingly knowledgeable about this topic!
Gary: The last time Hunter Cervenka came in to pitch for the Braves it got us started on a discussion about the band "X", whose lead singer was Exene Cervenka.
Ron: LA punk scene, late 70's, maybe? '77, '78?
Gary: Into the 80's, yeah.
Gary relayed how he heard Terry Gross on NPR interview John Doe and Exene Cervenka about a book they wrote about the 80's punk scene in LA. Gary also said he's trying to get Keith to listen to all of that music but it sounds like the conversion wasn't going very well.

With Michael Conforto at the plate, Ronnie had a little bone to pick with Keith regarding a conversation they had the day before...
Ron: Madison Bumgarner put him in a bit of a funk.
Gary: You know, it was interesting because you asked Keith that question yesterday, "can a tough lefthander and a tough day against him put you in a slump against the righthanders" and he said "no".
Ron: He totally dismissed me! Like, a knuckleball maybe but not a lefthander.
Gary: But he was answering for himself!
Ron: Of course, asking Keith questions, he's gotta take himself out of himself. I'm talking as a normal lefthanded hitter.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Upton Formerly Known As B.J. ran the Padres out of an inning. Gary has never held back his disdain for Upton going all the way back to his days in Tampa, so when he made a baserunning boo boo, Gary didn't miss the opportunity to pounce. Here are Gary's quotes, all coming from about a 30 second time span.
"Horrible baserunning by Melvin Upton."
"Some just truly dreadful baserunning by Melvin Upton results in the third out."
"And that enables Wallace to score, and what Upton was doing there I have no idea."

We can't do Bartolo Colon’s home run any more justice than Gary Cohen did, so here is quite simply one of his greatest home run calls. Bravo, Gare!
Keith Hernandez has nearly two weeks off from the booth, so he provided an update on what he's been doing by sharing a photo diary!
That's right, Keith is writing a biography! Sounds like a future must-read.
Now Keith is at the gym with his trainer and friend Rick D. As Gary and Ron pointed out during the broadcast, Rick is drenched while Keith looks like he hasn't even broken a sweat. What gives, Keith?
There's Keith working out with some sort of bands. Ron also made a note that Keith was wearing "short shorts"!
Finally, here's Keith's cat Hadji with a statue of a mermaid. As we recall here at TWISNY, Keith has called former Mets teammate Howard Johnson "Hadji" on a number of occasions. Is his cat named in honor HoJo?

A day after popping his first career home run, Bartolo Colon wasn't too tired for the Mets to list him as a pinch-hitter!
Gary: See on the Mets bench? They've got Colon listed as a righthanded available pinch-hitter.
Ron: *laughs* That's hilarious!
Gary: That's very nice!
Ron: That's great.
Big thanks as always to Chris McShane for keeping a watchful eye!
