The Mets lost to the Rockies for the second straight game behind a poor outing by Logan Verrett, who was in trouble right from the start and completely fell apart in the third inning. With the bases loaded, he walked DJ LeMahieu to force in a run. He seemed to come back and strike out Tony Wolters for the second out, but the umpire ruled it a foul tip at the plate. Terry Collins disagreed and was tossed from the game.
With his second chance, Wolters proceeded to hit a double, driving in two runs. Charlie Blackmon drove in the final two runs of the inning with a single which ended Verrett's night.
The combined efforts of Hansel Robles, Sean Gilmartin, Jim Henderson, Addison Reed, and Antonio Bastardo shut the Rockies' offense down from that point on, which allowed the Mets to try and come back in this game. Their best threat was in the sixth. With a run already in and runners on first and third, the Mets' fourth and final run scored when Asdrubal Cabrera grounded into a double play. The Mets now fall to third place in the NL East.
