The Mets hit three home runs and beat the Nationals 7-1 tonight in Washington, D.C. While Washington took an early lead with a run against Bartolo Colon in the bottom of the first, the Mets dominated the rest of the game.

David Wright turned the deficit into a lead with a three-run home run against Gio Gonzalez in the third inning. The Mets added two more runs in that inning on an Asdrubal Cabrera single and an Eric Campbell sacrifice fly to take a 5-1 lead. And in the fifth, Yoenis Cespedes and Neil Walker hit back-to-back solo home runs to make it a 7-1 lead.

Colon pitched through the seventh inning without allowing another run. Jerry Blevins threw a scoreless eighth, and Logan Verrett threw a scoreless ninth.
