The Mets took the rubber game of their series against the Nationals by a score of 2-0 in Washington this afternoon. Steven Matz was absolutely brilliant, going eight innings, striking out seven and only allowing four singles and one walk.
The Mets' offense was sparked in the first inning by a solo home run by David Wright, which would've proven to be enough offense for today. But insurance came in the form of a Rene Rivera RBI single in the seventh, which scored Matt Reynolds.
Jeurys Familia entered the game in the ninth and, after allowing two singles, managed to get out of the inning unscathed.
