Jeurys Familia walked himself into trouble in the ninth and then gave up the go-ahead two-run hit to Adrian Gonzalez as the Mets lost on Sunday Night Baseball, 4-2. Bartolo Colon pitched effectively for six innings, allowing just two runs and keeping the Mets in the game against Clayton Kershaw, and New York managed to tie the game at 2-2 against the Dodgers' bullpen in the bottom of the eighth before Familia's meltdown.
Down 2-0 in the sixth, Asdrubal Cabrera hit a solo home run to cut the lead in half. Then in the eighth, Curtis Granderson ripped a two-out triple to tie it.
The glory didn't last long though; Familia gave up a leadoff single to Kike Hernandez (who had three hits in his previous 50 at-bats), followed by a couple of walks, leading to the key Gonzalez hit.
With the loss, the Mets drop a game behind the Nationals.
