The Mets were defeated 6-4 as Hansel Robles continued to struggle. He gave up the Mets' lead in the eighth when Tyler Saladino hit a two-run home run off of him to turn a 4-3 deficit into a 5-4 lead. The White Sox tacked on a run when Jerry Blevins walked the only batter he faced and Logan Verrett gave up an RBI single.
Starter Steven Matz was sharp through five innings before he ran into trouble in the sixth, when he gave up three runs. Todd Frazier did most of the damage when he hit a two-run home run off Matz. Frazier was looking for a bit of redemption since he committed two errors earlier in the game that led to two runs. The Mets scored their other two runs on Neil Walker's thirteenth home run of the year in the third inning.
The most effective reliever for the Mets on the night was Noah Syndergaard, who came out for the seventh throwing gas and successfully pitched around an Asdrubal Cabrera error.
