Final Score: Mets 8, Braves 0—Matz, Mets home runs beat Braves

New, 248 comments

Lots of home runs and a superb pitching performance helped the Mets beat the Braves.

Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

The Mets beat the Braves 8-0 this afternoon. Steven Matz was great, as he allowed no runs on two hits with eight strikeouts in seven-and-two-thirds innings. Jim Henderson finished the eighth inning, and Addison Reed threw a scoreless ninth.

The run support came from, well, pretty much everybody. But Lucas Duda is going well right now, and he hit two home runs today. Asdrubal Cabrera and Rene Rivera also hit bombs, and Wilmer Flores had a nice day at the plate, as well. In the end, it was a very comfortable 8-0 victory for the Mets, who put the hurt on Jhoulys Chacin and took the rubber game of the series.
