The Mets fell to the White Sox today, 2-1 in 13 innings. The game, the longest of the season for the Mets, somehow felt even longer.
Jacob deGrom pitched seven strong innings, with the only real blemish of the day Todd Frazier's solo home run in the top of the seventh. Overall, deGrom struck out ten, walked two, and allowed five hits. White Sox starter Miguel Gonzalez went five innings while walking five and striking out four.
The Mets got their only run of the day off the bat of Rene Rivera, who singled home James Loney in the bottom of the second inning.
In the 13th inning, relief pitcher Matt Albers hit a double, took third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly off Logan Verrett. The Mets went quietly in the bottom of the inning.
