Final score: Brewers 7, Mets 4—Verrett gives up three home runs

Logan Verrett wasn't effective, and the Mets lost for the first time since Tuesday.

Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

Although they scored first on a two-run home run by Asdrubal Cabrera in the second inning, the Mets lost today, thanks in large part to Logan Verrett's struggles. Verrett gave up five runs on four hits—three of which were home runs—in four innings. He struck out five, but he walked four.

With the Mets down 5-2 in the fifth, Curtis Granderson hit a line drive home run to make it 5-3. But after a couple of scoreless innings from Hansel Robles, Antonio Bastardo gave up back-to-back solo home runs in the seventh. That gave the Brewers a comfortable four-run lead, and the Mets mustered up one run in the ninth on a sac fly by Wilmer Flores but nothing else.
