The Mets fell to the Brewers today by a score of 5-3, evening their four game series and sending the Mets into their day off with two straight losses.
After a rough second inning, where the Brewers scored three runs - including two from his own throwing error - Steven Matz set down eight in a row. But in the fifth, a pair of singles, yet another error, a sacrifice fly and a double plated two more Milwaukee runs. Matz would wind up going six, giving up five runs (four earned), while striking out five and walking none.
The Mets loaded the bases in the top of the first, but failed to score a run. In the seventh, the Mets had runners on first and third with no outs, and managed to only score one run, on Alejandro De Aza grounding into a fielder’s choice. Two more runs scored in the top of the eighth, but the damage had long been done by that point.
